Before starting anything on music magazines I had to look at generic magazines such as fitness magazines beauty magazines and much more, I had to look at what made them different and what made them stand out from each other, i.e what made it a fitness magazine? What made the magazine look like a beauty magazine? i.e colours, dialogue, images.

We had to carry out research looking at different music magazine, covers and what they feature, i.e puffs, lures as well as what the cover had on it. And why it would suit a specific audience, this made me think about how each magazine is targeted at a specific audience, i.e in images, writing and puffs. 

I looked at different types of magazines as this helped me gain general knowledge about the different types of magazines are out there, I also had to look at the different genres on music magazines itself. Therefore I looked at pop music magazines as well as rock and classical and much more, all were different from each other which allowed me to gain knowledge about what was different from each of them and how they differed in house styles, themes, colours and designs. 
I found that in a pop music magazine more bright colours are used such as pinks,purples and yellow this is mainly because it is aimed at a younger audience therefore needs to catch attention of the reader, or a passer by.
